One of the hardest and most taxing treks in Nepal, the Saribung Pass Trek connects Upper Mustang with the Nar Phu Valley across the snowy Saribung Pass (6042m). One of Nepal’s highest crossings, Saribung offers breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs as well as up-close looks at various Himalayan mountains in the Mustang region. In addition to amazing vistas from the top of the pass, the Saribung Trek also features the distinct culture of the most isolated areas of western Nepal.
A brand-new hiking route was found in 2006, the Saribung Pass Trek and Peak Climbing. It is a difficult and well-traveled trekking route with trodden pathways and difficult passes. Saribung Peak is situated in the Damodar Himalayas’ Mustang area, close to the border with (Tibet). The trail passes through settlements that haven’t altered since ancient times as it weaves around cliff cliffs. It can be completed either clockwise, starting from Jomsom and moving down the Upper Mustang trail till it reaches Nar-Phu valley and Besisahar to terminate, or anticlockwise, starting from Nar-Phu and moving up to Jomsom.
