The beautiful country of Nepal was a restricted zone for foreigners until as late as 1950s. Only after the end of autocratic Rana regime and restoration of democracy in 1950 AD, the Himalayan country sandwiched between India and China opened its gate to outsiders. Due to the mysterious façade, the country has for long ignited interests from researchers, travelers and scholars alike.
Our Kathmandu- tour offers you one of the best cultural tour experiences on planet. Besides the awe-inspiring mountains, Nepal is famous for its beautiful and rich heritage and culture. It will be a fascinating experience to see how the people here have sustained their heritage and culture amidst the rapid modernization.
During the medieval times, the beautiful valley of Kathmandu was divided into three prosperous kingdoms with each kingdom trying to outdo other in terms of economy and heritages. Thus, the history has endowed us with magnificent monuments ranging from gigantic stupas to gold-plated temples which are all at least couple of centuries old. Kathmandu is also often known as city of temples as you can find a temple or stupa, big or small in every nook and corner of this beautiful valley.
Kathmandu Valley houses seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will visit all these monumental heritages during our Kathmandu Tour. We will visit the palaces and courtyards of medieval Malla kings which are now known as Durbar Squares in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan. These squares are the epitome of the unique and intricate Newari architecture which cannot be found in any other region in the World. We will also visit century’s old pagoda temples like Pashupati Nath and Changu Narayan (known as oldest temple in city) and beautiful gigantic stupas like Syayambhu Nath and Boudha Nath built in unique Sikhara style. It is fascinating to see the seamless blend of Buddhism and Hinduism and we can also be part of different distinctive and ancient festivals of the natives Newars like Indra Jatra and Gai Jatra to name a few.
We will drive to the hill town of Dhulikhel which is an hour drive from Kathmandu. The beautiful town of Dhulikhel has preserved its old charm retained in its carved windows and brick houses, sustained in stone-paved streets and festivals. From there, we will go on a short hike to Namo Budhha which is a very holy site for Hindus and Buddhists alike in the country. We will also visit Pharping, which lies in the outskirts of the city for a refreshing break in the countryside which lies in very close proximity to Kathmandu Valley. In Pharping, we will Jamacho Monastery which has preserved some of very old Buddha statues and Buddhist literature.
The trip can be extended to visit Nagarkot from where we can have view of the whole Himalayan range extending from Everest in East to Dhaulagiri in West. We can also go on short treks in the outskirts such as Sankhu, Sundarijal or other places to elevate the experience further. We will be happy to customize the Kathmandu Valley tour to fit the preferences of our clients.
