Our journey begins in Kathmandu where we spend a day sightseeing before taking a flight to Pokhara for a day, another flight to Jomsom, biking to Kagbeni, and then traveling on to Muktinath.
On the edge of the Mustang Valley is the historic settlement of Kagbeni. Then we ascend through the desolate terrain to Muktinath. The pilgrimage route to the revered Muktinath shrine is on bikes. ‘Temple of spiritual freedom’ in translation. Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from as far south as India throng Muktinath to pay respects to the deity.
We pedal down the world’s deepest valley, the Kali Gandaki Valley, after leaving Muktinath, where we are rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche peak, and several other 8,000-meter peaks.
